Regrettably, effective August 1^st, 2009, there will no longer be meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous held at the facility on Dell Avenue. The Saturday 10:00 AM Think Tank Men's Meeting will be held at the Alano Club of San Jose on Fair Avenue until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience. Check with Central Office later next week to determine where other meetings formerly held at Dell Avenue will be held, or check back on our website for updates.

The Alano Club West was founded to help those within the San Jose community and to provide a place for people in recovery to meet and have fellowship. The Club is a clean and sober environment, and is a great place to catch a meeting, share experience, strength and hope, and participate in the joy of recovery.

Club membership is open to all and we hope you will join us!

President's Message - 05/14/2008

Much has happened since our last newsletter. For one thing, we have a new ACW President and we are MOVING FORWARD. I am looking forward to serving this board and our club to help us have a club where we can meet and newcomers can come to find their way to recovery. Also, to ensure that we establish and maintain a club for people to come back to when they are trying to find their way on a dark shore line when they're lost. I knew where to go when I came back in 1995, The Alano Club West. It was there when I was lost and I want to make sure that we get and keep these doors open for everyone who wants to come in and take their place.

I'd like to thank the past members for their efforts. Mike K. and Clayton K. as past board members and the rest of the board who still hold their positions. Those most valuable and often forgotten volunteers are:

We look forward to the new era of Alano Club West and hope that everyone finds it in their hearts to BRING THEIR BEST to every meeting, event and function they attend.

I have heard a lot about what went wrong at our last club. I have seen and heard some finger pointing and complaining about people and perceptions. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing about any of it right now. The point I'd like to make is: As fellow Alcoholics, we need to PRACTICE THESE PRINCIPLES IN ALL OF OUR AFFAIRS. We also need to let go of the negativity of what went wrong in our past and learn from it to ensure that we don't repeat the behaviors. In line with our Serenity Prayer, let's focus on the things we can control and start out with being GOOD AND RESPECTFUL NEIGHBORS and CO-TENANTS. Let's respect the site and the club and leave it better than we found it EVERY TIME.

We are all a reflection of our program and our membership. Let's learn from our past and bring our best on our new journey and to our new home. I'm asking for all of us to support our club by bringing your best to the table every time you show up. Every time you attend a meeting, talk to a newcomer and/or attend a ACW function.

In closing, I'd like to ask everyone, what are you willing to do to ensure the success of ALANO CLUB WEST?
