Attention

Regrettably, effective August 1st, 2009, there will no longer be meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous held at the facility on Dell Avenue. The Saturday 10:00 AM Think Tank Men's Meeting will be held at the Alano Club of San Jose on Fair Avenue until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience. Check with Central Office later next week to determine where other meetings formerly held at Dell Avenue will be held, or check back on our website for updates.

Welcome to Alano Club West. We are glad you are here! Here you can find out about who we are, learn the club history, see what's going on at the club, and find out how to get involved.

The Alano Club West was founded to help those within the San Jose community and to provide a place for people in recovery to meet and have fellowship. The Club is a clean and sober environment, and is a great place to catch a meeting, share experience, strength and hope, and participate in the joy of recovery.

Club membership is open to all and we hope you will join us!

President's Message - 03/04/2010

Challenges and Opportunities

"Patience is a virtue". Patience can be defined as "steadfast despite opposition, difficulty or adversity" or "not hasty or impetuous". Virtue is a commendable quality or trait.

So where does that leave us in our search for a new home? It leaves us in just about the same place we were two months ago except that we have learned more about planning and zoning.

The board had what we thought was a good interim location only to find that the city of Campbell had recently revised a zoning plan that eliminated public assembly from the area where we had found a short term site. We had not and have not stopped looking for what we believe will be the best site for the Alano Club West but this was a setback-hence the patience part. I am learning what a virtue this is despite my natural drive to jump in with both feet, see where the wave goes and clean up after. Making a hasty decision regarding our new home will not happen thanks to the dedication of our board.

We have a list of places we are investigating at this time and will not stop until we find what we believe to be the best place in the interest of our club. I would like to ask all of you, as members, to be on the watch for any place you see as prospective and let us know. We will look at all sites proposed and see if any fit our purpose, goals and of course our budget.

Please continue to pray about this. My experience has been that good things do indeed come to those who pray diligently and expectantly. And wait patiently!!

Gary M.
President
